It all started with a Twitter conversation after Nick saw Priyanka in Quantico. He wrote, “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” She responded on the day of the message that said, ‘My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me.”

The couple first met at the Vanity Fair Oscars party last year where Nick was waiting at the bar and saw the actress breeze through. He told the magazine, “And I put my drink down, get on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud.” Post this dramatic incident, Nick and Priyanka made their formal first appearance at MET Gala the same year.

Jump to the proposal, the article states that Nick waited until the midnight after her birthday so that future engagement anniversaries do not coincide with her birthday celebrations. Talking about the proposal, Nick told the popular glossy, “I got down on one knee, again and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me? No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” Post that he told Priyanka that he is going to slip in the ring irrespective. He said, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”

PeeCee and Nick got engaged on August 18 in an intimate ceremony. Talking about the Roka ceremony, she said, “It was such an incredible coming-together of two really ancient cultures and religions. Nick did the Hindu prayers. The prayers are in Sanskrit. Even I can’t say them. But he did it in Sanskrit. The Indians were so impressed with their National Jiju.” The actress also revealed that they will have a 3-day Indian wedding and said, “People will need vacations after this wedding.”
